A whole slew of pictures from our trip on the first 1/3 of the Trent Severn Waterway.
Trent Port Marina Facility...just a beautiful marina complex...probably the nicest that we've seen on the trip so far. |
Typical Dock Masters Quarters. They used to live on site, but now these buildings are just used during the day for the lock offices. |
And here we go... |
Skies starting to look a bit ominous... |
Another dock masters cottage. |
Many of them have very nice gardens that they tend to. |
Hmmm...still looking stormy. |
We did get some rain out of this, but the hail storm waited until we were all tied up before it hit! |
Top of lock #6 that was full for the night. |
Some of the lock walls are a bit on the slimy side... |
The large double lock (#11 & #12) |
Lots of water coming through the dams...they have much too much water in the system this summer. Every rainstorm that brings more threatens temporary closures along the way...so far we've been lucky. |
The suspension bridge we hiked to. |
And the view. |
And now some of the faces along the way...
This is how they open and close the gates...on this one, it took 12 times around to open the gates. |
We met this young family who was canoeing down the waterway and camping out at night. |
This young lad entertained us from the bridge at Campbellford...he was having a ball! |
A few cottages along the route... |
Our spot on the wall in Campbellford. |
Huge replica of the Toonie ($2 coin) whose designer was from Campbellford...it made the town famous. |
The fountain on the approach to Peterborough. |
Sandy snapped this marvelous shot of 2 dragonflies...in the shape of a heart! |
All for now!
