Trenton to Peterborough...More Pictures

Day #634; Loop Miles to Date = 7,499

Happy 4th of July!

More pictures from our first 20 locks on the Trent Severn...

Campbellford Fire Truck.

Some of the markers are SERIOUS markers...don't want to bump one of these.

The water flow through the gates in Hastings.

These are the Zebra Mussels that everyone talks about invading all of the Great Lakes. They steal nutrients from the water from other species, and are not indigenous to the area. The good news is that they act as water filters, which helps to clean all of the water, but they are invasive, and hard to control. We see them on the lock walls.

The huge front doors to the double lock (#11 & #12). It almost looks like a giant mural, but in actuality is just the corrosion and erosion pattern of the water on the steel doors over time.

And on Canada Day in Peterborough, we had a huge parade...1 of 2 bagpipe bands!

This clever guy makes you think he is just riding a bicycle...but if you look closely, you'll see that it is a unicycle and a spare pair tire on the front. It made for some surprising stunts to those not paying attention.

And of course, you gotta have a float with a cow on it...

Our very busy dock...there was a gauntlet of legs and chairs and dogs to get past each time we wanted to get off the dock...especially entertaining when we were trying to walk the pups.

We caught a full rainbow off our stern at the dock after a shower...nice.

And finally, a couple of shots of our lock wall above lock #7. On an early morning dog walk, we found some fog just after the sun came up. It was really pretty.
