Goose Pond to Ditto Landing Marina

Another great travel day on the Tennessee River. Some Beautiful scenery and easy cruising. We were docked at Goose Pond with Reunion (Gold Looper) and Happy Happy, who are from Atlanta and just starting their loop. We did not leave the dock with a "Team Plan" but ended up with one a bit later. We heard radio traffic between Reunion and the lock master at Guntersville Lock that indicated there was a tow upbound that was headed for the lock and that we had a small window to catch the lock down before the tow was expected at the lock. Even though this tow only had 2 barges, it would still tie up the lock for a couple of hours to get through, and commercial traffic like this always has priority over pleasure vessels.

So...long story short, all 3 of us managed to get to the lock in time to avoid this lengthy delay...and we traveled as a pack the rest of the way into Ditto Landing Marina. Ditto Landing was a nice stop. A bit busy with the boat ramp and boat storage facility until dark, but very peaceful and quiet the rest of the night. No restaurant or convenience store, but a nice night none the less.

A little foggy early, but it cleared nicely by the time we were ready to depart.

Very peaceful day!

The barge we "beat" to the lock. Notice the bow wave that even these small tows and barges generate. A wide berth is preferred...
Reunion approaching a gorgeous bluff.

A larger tow pushing 15 barges (5 long x 3 wide)
